Gopastami

Friday, 04 December 2020 by admin

As this Sunday is Gopasthami, we thought it would be nice if the children could dress up as Gopas and learn about this auspicious past time.
Gopasthami is where Krishna and Balarama were old enough to start to tend to the cows of Vrindavana, previously they looked after the calves. Srimati Radharani and Her friends also wanted to enjoy the fun, and because of Her resemblance to Subala-sakha, She put on his dhoti and garments and joined Krishna. The other gopis joined in too.
All glories to Sri Vrindavana Dham!!!

Srila Prabhupada’s Disappearance day

Friday, 04 December 2020 by admin

Today being the disappearance of Srila Prabhupada, the children at the Gurukula honoured this occasion by performing pushpanjali (flower offering) in their classrooms.
The children were also very lucky to have senior Srila Prabhupada disciple and former teacher at the Gurukula, Mother Moksha, come to speak with the children about some of her pastimes with Srila Prabhupada and explained about the mood of service and surrender that Srila Prabhupada instilled in his disciples.

Krishna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead – 1970 Edition : Volume 1 : KB 1-24 / Worshiping Govardhana Hill

Friday, 04 December 2020 by admin

The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna, therefore advised the cowherd men to stop the Indra-yajña and begin the Govardhana Puja in order to chastise Indra who was very much puffed up at being the supreme controller of the heavenly planets. The honest and simple cowherd men headed by Nanda Maharaja accepted Krishna’s proposal and executed in detail everything He advised. They performed Govardhana worship and circumambulation of the hill.

Srila Prabhupada letter to Bhavananda 28th October 1970

Friday, 04 December 2020 by admin
“It is very encouraging that you have got license from the Board of Education to continue our children’s school. Kindly organize it nicely and it shall be a great achievement. We have to concentrate to give them some idea about God–that should be our first business. In art class they should be encouraged to draw pictures of Krsna, Kuruksetra, etc. There are so many subjects for drawing as it is stated in our book Krsna. If they are trained, they will come out nice devotees.”
