Virtual Open Evening
Friday, 04 December 2020
Last night we had our virtual opening at the Gurukula and it went fantastically well. In an effort to give the attendees a little flavour of what the school is about we interviewed some students, teachers and parents, even parents whose children have now graduated from the Gurukula. This video is the highlights of some of those interviews.
We hope this video also gives another perspective of the Gurukula and why those who are involved with it put so much energy into it and why parents see the benefits of sending their children here.

Bhagavad Gita Verses
Friday, 04 December 2020
WOW!!! We came across this treasure from last year (or maybe the year before) with the lovely chiildren, 7 and 8 year olds, reciting verses from the Bhahgavad Gita and doing actions to them as well. They look like they are dressed up for a drama about Goverdhana lila too.
How wonderful and this is a memory that these children will hopefully never forget!

Mother Swati’s B’day
Friday, 04 December 2020
It must be something in the air but it is birthday season at the Gurukula and today there was a small celebration for our lovely Baladeva class teacher (Year 3 and 4), Mother Swati.
Mother Swati is relatively new to the Gurukula, she started serving here in February. Joining us from an Outstanding School, she came to us at a time when we really need help in trying to improve our class provision and in a short time has given much to the Gurukula.
In fact, she loves the Gurukula so much she put her daughter in the school as well!!!
We are indebted to Mother Swati’s service, thank you and Happy Birthday!!!

Vegetarian Sushi Making
Friday, 04 December 2020
One of the nice things about the Gurukula is the community of parents who comprise it and who give their time to enrich the learning experience. This allows the children to learn and be exposed to very unique and diverse things.
Today the Vrindavana Class, Year 5 and 6, had local business woman Hari Priya, who runs Mood Cafe come in and teach the children how to make one of her most popular items, vegan sushi roll.
The childrens got stuck in and had plenty of fun!!!

Indradyumna Swami Calls the Gurukula
Friday, 04 December 2020
Today at Gurukula we were very fortunate to have H.H Indradyumna Swami speak to the whole school. He shared stories of his preaching in various countries, the children asked him questions and he invited the children when they are older to join in his adventures with the festivals he puts on around the world.
Thank you Maharaja for inspiring all the children to have their own adventures in Krishna Consciousness and in the preaching mission.

Mother Guru’s B’day
Friday, 04 December 2020
If the Gurukula has a heart and soul it has to be Mother Guru!!!
Today is her birthday and everyone connected with the Gurukula including all the children send their love.
Mother Guru initially joined the school in 1992 with what began as a supportive role led to her becoming the headteacher. She went on to complete a degree in Early Years Education and Primary School Education and School management. Mother Guru retired last academic year.
Mother Guru thank you for your dedication and perseverance in keeping the Gurukula going for all these many years!!! Long may the Gurukula continue…

Open Evening Filming
Friday, 04 December 2020
We did a little filming today at the Gurukula with the children, the teachers and some parents. They were all very brave!!!!
The purpose of the filming is that this year we can’t have an open day, so we are doing a virtual one instead. With the films prospective parents get a glimpse of what the school is about.
The virtual open evening is on the 3rd of December at 6pm. Register your interest here: https://gurukula.org.uk/open-evening/
